CLRL + ALT + DELETE in remote desktop is very easy but only if you know how to do that. In our previous post, we showed you the complete steps to enable and setup remote desktop in windows 10 pc. After enabling the windows remote desktop access, you can easily manage other PCs remotely. Best thing is that we can send or transmit all the keyboard actions to the remote machine or pc.
But sometimes, you need to press the ctrl alt Del keys combination in a remote desktop session. In that case, you can’t send the ctrl+alt+delete to the remote computer and it would instead perform the action on your own computer. Microsoft blocked this feature for remote access and you can perform Ctrl + Alt + Del for the local computer only.
NOTE : If you are using a remote desktop to access server or any other pc then you are not allowed to use ctrl + alt + del on server or remote pc. Because when you press these combinations, it will trigger on your local pc instead of server.
Methods To Send Ctrl Alt Delete To A Remote Desktop
Most probably, you want to change a password, log off or lock RDP screen in remote desktop session. But don’t know how to do that because ctrl alt dele won’t work on remotely. Here are adding few simple tricks to send ctrl + alt + del through the local host.
Method 01 Send Ctrl + ALT + Delete In Remote Desktop Session

Method 02 Transmit Ctrl + Alt + Del Using On Screen Keyboard
If you are involved in multiple RPD sessions then you can do the same using an on screen keyboard. Open the On-screen keyboard on the remote desktop and apply the ctrl alt delete combo.
- Press and hold the “Windows key + R” key to bring up the “Windows run dialog box” on the remote desktop.
- Now, type “osk.exe” and click the “OK” button to launch windows ON-Screen keyboard (virtual keyboard).
- Now press the “Ctrl” and “alt” keys from your physical keyboard and then select “del” from the on-screen keyboard.
These are smart tricks to apply ctrl + alt + delete key combination remotely. Same as ctrlaltdel, some other keyboard shortcuts you can use in Remote Desktop.
Alt + Page Up : Switch between programs (Alt + Tab is the local command)
Ctrl + Alt + End : Display the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc is the local command)
Alt + Home : Brings up the Start menu on the remote computer
Ctrl + Alt + (+) Plus/ (-) Minus : Minus takes a snapshot of the active window and plus takes a snapshot of the entire remote desktop window.
